Baltimore Police Chief Mike Tussey recognized for work on public indecency legislation

BALTIMORE — Ohio Rep. Tim Schaffer presented the first copy of House Bill 92 to Baltimore Police Chief Mike Tussey after it was signed by Gov. John Kasich.

The legislation requires those who are repeatedly convicted of public indecency against children to register as Tier 1 sex offenders on the Sex Offender Registration Network.

Tussey had brought the issue to Schaffer after a repeat exposer had targeted busloads of children for his own sexual gratification in Baltimore in 2014. Schaffer said Tussey was instrumental in crafting the bill and also testifying to the House and Senate committees, which passed unanimously. The law will go into effect in late March.
